Who is KiteCrest?
Hi, I’m Simon and KiteCrest is just me doing Mountain Leader stuff. It is a new venture coming out of my retirement from a career in finance and a lifelong passion for hillwalking. I am now spending considerably more time outdoors in the wonderful moorlands, hills and mountains of the UK and Ireland as well as the amazing and beautiful Guernsey.
Activities
Mountain Leader
As a qualified Mountain Leader, I am available to lead groups in the hills and mountains right across UK and Ireland. If you are interested finding out more, just fill out the contact form and I will be in touch. Look out for upcoming events posted on the blog.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
I have been working with local schools, supporting their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award provision for many years and am a qualified assessor for Bronze, Silver and Gold. As a qualified Lowland Leader and Mountain Leader, I am also able to supervise at these levels. I happily get involved in navigation training and supporting route planning.
I am keen to develop relationships with all areas within the D of E community across the UK.

Navigation Training
I am delivering navigation workshops and courses for beginner and intermediate participants, including the support for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions. These workshops cover the essentials of navigation, route planning, dealing with common hazards and staying safe. Supporting Events
If you have a hill , moorland or mountain event happening and you need a qualified ML to support, I am keen to hear from you. I am very flexible and can readily cover most of the UK.
